It’s okay if you don’t know what
to do when you come to the site. Believe me, you’re way ahead
of at least one person, who doesn’t even
know where to type in the web address (I’ll mention no names,
but he’s one
of my parents).
If you’ve got a question, hopefully you’ll find it in the
list on the left. If not, email me your question and I’ll be sure
to answer it and add it to the list.
Quick Tips For Using This Site
There are a few things you probably need to know up front. Most of the
content of the site is located under the Choose A Destination pull-down
menu on the homepage. The links listed there will take you
into a section devoted to that destination.
Here is a breakdown of each section:
Choose A Destination - My travel writing and travel photos are located
here.
Creative Writing - Things I’ve written that are not necessarily
related to travel.
Contact - Find out how to get in touch with me.
Portfolio - I’m a Graphic Designer and you can view my Design
Portfolio.
Help - Well, you’re here now so I think you’ve got a grasp
of what’s going on.
The and
located in the links indicate whether there is an essay or photo or
both for that link.
Why can't I see the Choose A Destination menu?
If you can't view any of the pull-down menus, then you don't have Javascript
enabled through your browser. (Some people turn it off to block pop-up
windows.) To turn it on, you'll need to access your browser's preferences
and turn Java on. In Internet Explorer, for example, you need to click
the "Enable Java" check box.
What does the and stand
for?
These icons, located
in the links, indicate whether there is an essay or photo or both for
that link.
Why are the photos so small?
The photos are small so that the page will load more quickly. By clicking
on each small photo, you can view a larger version in a new window.
When I click on the photos to enlarge them, nothing happens. What
the hell is going on?
If a new window does not open when you click on a small photo, you
probably have a preference called "Block Pop-Up Windows" turned on
in your browser. To see the images larger, you'll need to disable
this browser feature.
What is your favorite color?
I've always hated this question because I love a lot of different
colors. But I guess my favorite would be Carolina blue.
How can I go from one Destination to another without going back to
the homepage?
You can change destinations (for example, from Australia to Spain)
by choosing a new location from the Choose Another Destination pull
down menu in the upper left corner, under //Journal of Rachel Stikeleather.
I love your site and I want to hire you/publish your writing/ have
you design my site/marry you. How do I make that happen?
First off, the answer is Yes! Secondly, you should contact me via
email at
rachel@austintoaustralia.com
Where can I view more of your design work?
If you would like to see my design portfolio, you can do so by
clicking the Portfolio link in the upper right corner of each page.
